RAY BRYANT (GUITAR AND VOCALS; BFF TO JAY)
Ray started studying music formally at age 7, but informally with mom and grandma right out of the nursery. “We were always required to dance with our mom at every family function… as children we were always playing musical games, singing, clapping, dancing, and enjoying music”. This makes a lot of sense if you've ever had the chance to share in the joy of music with Ray. He has been performing and recording all around the tri-state area since high school. Most recently, he has been performing and/or collaborating with such notable artists as Leslie Mendelson (Kimock, Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead), Pete Francis (Dispatch), Bakithi Kumalo (Paul Simon’s bassist since the famed Graceland album) and Morris Goldberg (pioneer of Cape Town Jazz and clarinetist and saxophonist on Graceland).
Ray was the co-creator of a children's TV show AOK cafe with Jim Jinkins (Doug, 101 Dalmations, Disney), Annie Evans (Sesame Street), featuring Jay and Ray. He also created, from ground up, a summertime concert series which included organizing food vendors, artists and musicians with headlining acts such as Pete Francis (Dispatch), Bakithi Kumalo (Paul Simon Band), Jon Herington and Jim Beard (Steely Dan), Leslie Mendelson (Kimock/Bob Weir) and Frank Migliorelli.
He is one small step away from holding a Masters degree in music education with a concentration on early childhood music development. He created the “Downtown Music Project” mentoring students while at University of Bridgeport for which he won the University’s Dean’s Award in Arts and Sciences.
Ray is the proud father of 3.
